Japanese large-scale ichimastu-ningyo by Takizawa Koryusai II (Yoshitoyo, 1888-1966), classic early ichimatsu dressed in a rich purple kimono with vibrant floral bursts and a painterly landscape and fan design, aoi hollyhock kamon family crest repeated on the shoulders, elbows and at yoke, silk brocade obi, silk cord obi jime and fawn spot chirimen obi age, wide-eyed expression typical of Koryusai’s earlier works, with a slightly pigmented gofun skin, painted details, human hair in a short okappa style ornamented with a silk wisteria pin, well-formed hands with well delineated fingers, bare feet with well-rendered toes and details, slightly flexed, minor fading to textiles, overall fine condition, 30” High
