Rare early Japanese Ichimastu Boy by Hirata Tsunejiro, (Goyo I, 1878-1924), delightful young boy dressed in a fine beni red silk crepe kimono with dense embroidery of blooming sakura cherry branches dotted by flying birds and ornamental fence, secured by a densely patterned brocade obi featuring white chrysanthemum blossoms, distinctive pouting face with large almond eyes of inset glass, a lightly pigmented gofun with painted details finely executed hair, inwardly feathered eyebrows in the Goyo style, hands well rendered with lightly flexed fingers, tsumekiri fingernail details, sporting a stylish inro pill box at his waist, tabi socks (latter addition), minor repair to left thumb, overall fine condition. 16” High
