Japanese mitsuore-ningyo (triple-jointed doll) in a style known as “Anesama” (elder sister). depicting a well dressed woman in a richly patterned purple silk crepe kimono with a green satin silk obi with a tatewaku undulating line pattern with clouds and white blossoms, fawnspot patterned obiage and a white silk obi-jime, well formed head with bright features, slightly open-mouth expression, blackened teeth, silk fiber hair, inset glass eyes, white gofun with painted details, classic mitsuore construction with articulated hips, knees and ankles, with addition pivoting wrist joints, well formed hands, minor losses to pigments around mouth, overall fine condition. 19-1/2”
